Free Library shuttle bus during Springwood Library refurbishment

Blue Mountains City Council is pleased to announce the start of a weekly Library bus service.

The bus service will run between the Springwood and Blaxland Library branches, from 9 December for the duration of the ongoing refurbishment at Springwood. The Library in the Loft, located in the Blue Mountains Community Hub at Springwood will also reopen from 3 December.

Blue Mountains Mayor Mark Greenhill said: "This is a fabulous initiative from our Blue Mountains Library team. Every time I think I've seen Council staff go above and beyond, they show me that there are no limits to their innovation and their desire to provide a top notch service to our community."

"While the Library in the Loft is reopening on site at Springwood as well, it only offers a small selection. And we know that so many in the Library community are missing their regular perusal of the larger collection.

"This free bus service will enable seniors and those without access to their own transport to access the larger collection at Blaxland. It's also wheelchair accessible, so everyone will be able to make use of it."

The main Springwood Library is currently closed for the next exciting stage of refurbishment.

Free shuttle bus details

The shuttle bus service will run every Thursday, is free and does not require bookings. It will depart and return to the Blue Mountains Community Hub in Springwood, giving members approximately one hour at Blaxland Library.

There will be two departure times each Thursday:

  • 9.45am, returning 11.15am
  • 10.30am, returning 12pm

Until Public Health Orders change, everyone using the service and entering the Library must be fully vaccinated and will be required to check-in. We will have friendly Library staff on hand at Springwood to assist with all requirements.

There will be no service on Thursday 30 December during the Library's holiday closure period.
