Home composting is a great and easy way to minimise household food waste ending up in landfill.
Council will be running a free online beginner compost, worm farm and bokashi (odour-reducing compost bins) workshop to encourage residents to recycle their food waste.
The next beginner's workshop will be held on Saturday 27 March, 10am to 11am and registrations can be made online
Here you will learn all you need to know to set up and maintain your own worm farm, composting system or bokashi bin at home, including demonstrations of how each system is used as well as ongoing maintenance and troubleshooting tips.
By attending the webinar, participants will also get the chance to win a Compost Revolution voucher to put towards a compost bin, bokashi bin or worm farm products.
Encouraging the community to compost is one way Council and the community are working together to divert as much food as possible from landfill, which in turn reduced our greenhouse gas emissions.
Since Council began its Compost Revolution in 2017, we have seen a huge uptake from the community, with over 2000 households signing up for a subsidised compost system.
