The documentary, created by filmmaker Genevieve Bailey, focuses on the life stories of five men throughout Australia, shot across the space of a seven-year-period.
Aged from their 30s-70s, the men's stories give an unforgettable voice to the complex emotional landscapes we can all traverse.
Touching, funny and tender, this must-see documentary is set to shine a light on and change the dialogue around masculinity and mental health today.
Exploring hopes, anxieties, joy and darkness, the raw vulnerability of these stories will inspire you to hold some of the men in your life that bit closer.
The screening was acquired through the work of Strathbogie Shire Council's Community Connector role.
"Strathbogie Shire's community connector role is doing great things in our community," Mayor Cr Chris Raeburn said.
"During one of the most challenging years on record, Bill has been out and about facilitating connections in our community between providers and those in-need. In coming weeks and months, Bill has helped ensure some fantastic programs are happening in our community.
"The Happy Sad Man showing is an example of just one of these programs. It's an opportunity for our community to experience this must-see documentary. I encourage all interested people to book their ticket ASAP."
Filmmaker Genevieve Bailey said the guys in HAPPY SAD MAN had their own unique way of expressing their inner worlds.
"They are at times cheeky, challenging, charming and cut to the chase when it comes to sharing what's going on in their heads and their hearts," Ms Bailey said.
"What I love about documentary filmmaking is not only the opportunity to walk in
the shoes of others, but also to amplify these stories to the world, encouraging
greater empathy, understanding and compassion, not just for others, but for ourselves.
"I am really grateful that all these men and their loved ones have entrusted me with
their very personal stories. They've done so because we all share the passion for
opening up conversations that not only improve lives but can save lives too."
