Tasmania's FuelCheck app will be updated on Monday to provide Tasmanians with information on shortages of fuel availability at retailers in their area.
The update has been implemented in preparation for our strong and decisive new laws taking effect, meaning fuel retailers will now be able to list any temporary outages alongside their current prices, ensuring customers have access to the information they need from the FuelCheck app before filling up.
The user interface will also be greatly improved, making it clearer and easier for Tasmanians to navigate the app.
Minister for Small Business, Trade and Consumer Affairs, Guy Barnett, said the new law and regulation require retailers to provide information on fuel outages within 30 minutes.
"These changes will help inform Tasmanians as they head to the bowser," Deputy Premier Barnett said.
"Conflict overseas has created real fuel pressures for Tasmania, but we remain secure, prepared, and focused.
"Tasmania's fuel supply is secure, with sufficient amounts available and more on the way.
"But when some stations have fuel temporarily unavailable, Tasmanians deserve to know.
"Our Government will continue to navigate these challenges calmly, cooperatively, and with confidence in the strength of our state."
