Communities, Traditional Owners and organisations can now apply for funding to help protect the Great Barrier Reef. Up to $7.538 million is available through Round 2 of the Protecting the Great Barrier Reef - Community Stewardship Program.
The program will help communities, Traditional Owners and organisations to take action together that delivers positive outcomes for the Reef.
Projects can help protect marine life and tackle key threats to the Reef as outlined in the Great Barrier Reef Outlook Report, such as:
- climate change
- coastal development
- poor water quality.
The funding is provided through the Australian Government's Reef Trust and supports the Reef 2050 Plan.
Applications close at 9 pm AEDT on 6 October 2026.
