The State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to inclusive outdoor experiences for children and families across Western Australia, with $1 million over four years to continue the successfulEvery Kid in a Park(EKIP) initiative.
The Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) will provide$250,000 per annum over four yearstoNature Play WAto deliver EKIP, ensuring all Western Australian children regardless of ability or background can connect with the State's unique conservation areas.
Over the next four years, Nature Play WA will:
- deliver inclusive events and activations in parks;
- develop accessible resources and communications to support family engagement;
- embed inclusive design across all activities and materials; and
- collaborate with DBCA to ensure alignment with broader accessibility initiatives.
Founded in 2021, EKIP complements DBCA's broader investment in accessibility, including upgrades to national park infrastructure across the State and enhancements to the Explore Parks WA website.
Every Kid in a Park has engaged 25,000 participants and reached more than 1.5 million people, inspiring children and families to get outside and connect with Western Australia's beautiful parks.
