Funding now available for community language schools

  • 2019 grants are now open for community language schools
  • Grants support not-for-profit schools providing quality language learning

Community language schools are now invited to apply for grants to support school administration and operations.

The Community Language Schools program, administered by the Office of Multicultural Interests, supports after-hours community language schools to provide quality language teaching and to develop and maintain effective administration, management systems and processes.

Community language schools are not-for-profit, community-based organisations that operate out of school hours and teach languages other than English for students from kindergarten through to Year 12.

Two types of grants are available in this round:

Per capita grants - assist with the costs of operating the school. The per capita amount is up to $120 per student, and the total grant amount is calculated based on the number of students enrolled in the school.

New school grants - provide one-off funding of up to $4,000 to new schools to support the administrative costs of setting up the school.

The Community Language Schools program grants round for 2019 closes at 4pm on Monday March 11, 2019.
