Do you have a great idea for Harmony Week? Perhaps you have a project that celebrates our cultural diversity and promotes an inclusive Western Australia?
Funding is now available for community groups and not-for-profit organisations to hold activities for Harmony Week 2021 which promote understanding, cultural diversity and inclusion.
Grants of $2,000 are available from the McGowan Government, through the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries.
Activities with a focus on culture and the arts, and sport and recreation are encouraged.
Harmony Week runs from March 15-21 every year and encourages everyone to experience, explore and appreciate WA’s wealth of cultural, faith, linguistic and ethnic diversity.
The deadline for funding applications for Harmony Week activities is 4:00pm on Monday, October 19, 2020.
More information, including guidelines and application forms, is available from https://www.omi.wa.gov.au
As stated by Citizenship and Multicultural Interests Minister Paul Papalia:
“Harmony Week is a celebration of Western Australia’s cultural diversity and a time for everyone to get involved in activities that promote inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging.
‘Harmony Week activities provide an opportunity to bring people together to learn, connect and have fun while exploring the benefits of being a part of a vibrant multicultural society”
“Next year’s Harmony Week will see Western Australia buzz with all types of activities. I encourage community groups to start thinking about their projects and join in this wonderful celebration.”
