Sporting groups based at Colac's Eastern Reserve have celebrated a commitment of $350,000 in funding from the Victorian Government for the establishment of an under-cover cricket and baseball training facility.

Mayor Kate Hanson said Council had met with the local cricket and baseball clubs at Eastern Reserve and heard first-hand their commitment to progressing the facility.

"City United Cricket Club and Colac Braves Baseball Club have advocated strongly for the training facilities at Eastern Reserve and we congratulate them on their efforts.

"Both clubs are working hard to grow participation in their sports and get more men, women and children involved in baseball and cricket.

"Council recognises that fit-for-purpose facilities that support active, healthy and connected communities are always important and we're delighted to see this support for our community's aspirations," Mayor Hanson said.
