Wagga Wagga City Council has successfully secured funding to upgrade changerooms and public amenities at three of the city's major sport parks.
At its Ordinary Meeting on Monday 25 May 2026, Council formally accepted $67,000 in funding through the Clubgrants Category 3 Fund Infrastructure Grants program, administered by the NSW Government's Office of Responsible Gambling.
Council's Recreation Coordinator Josh Walsh said the funding will be matched with $67,000 from Council's own Recurrent Capital Parks & Recreation budget, giving a total of $134,000 for the upgrade.
"The project involves refurbishing the changerooms at Geohex Park and Parramore Park at the Wagga Equex Centre, and Conolly Park at the Jubilee Park sporting complex," Mr Walsh said.
"Council has already undertaken works at Geohex Park and Parramore Park with its contribution to this project, to make these facilities female-friendly ahead of the NRLW Magic Round weekend being hosted here on the weekend of 1 -2 August," Mr Walsh said.

"These venues are central to Wagga Wagga's sport and recreation network but contained ageing, basic and non-compliant amenities that no longer met community expectations.
"Additionally, this ClubGrants Category 3 funding grant will enable us to refurbish the amenities at Conolly Park to bring these outdated facilities up to standard.
"We want members of the community to be able to participate in sport safely, comfortably and with dignity."
The work will deliver safe, accessible and inclusive facilities incorporating unisex layouts, female-friendly showers and toilets, accessible amenities, privacy-conscious design, improved ventilation and upgraded utility services ensuring reliability during high-demand periods.
In addition, plumbing will be upgraded at the Conolly Park changerooms.

"These modern, inclusive facilities will remove barriers for women and girls, junior players, people with a disability, multicultural groups and visiting teams, supporting year-round participation, club growth and enabling larger sporting events across the city," Mr Walsh said.
"The upgrades are part of a larger initiative by Council to create safer spaces for women in sport, with upgrades currently underway and others recently completed at multiple aged facilities in the community."
The Clubgrants Category 3 – Infrastructure Grants: Sport and Recreation program funds the costs of construction, alteration, renovation, completion and fit-out of buildings and community infrastructure that deliver outcomes for disadvantaged NSW communities.
