The McGowan Government will provide an additional $200,000 to Doors Wide Open in Bunbury to help deliver critical support services to families and individuals experiencing methamphetamine addiction in the South-West region.
The latest funding injection comes on top of the $100,000 delivered through the McGowan Government's Local Projects, Local Jobs program and almost $84,000 announced in April. It brings the total commitment from the State Government for Doors Wide Open to $383,000.
Doors Wide Open began as a Facebook support group, and established a drop-in centre in 2017. The service now sees up to 900 clients each month.
Its model of care ensures methamphetamine users, their families and peers are central to the planning, design and delivery of the service.
Since taking office, the McGowan Government has invested $244.8 million to address methamphetamine use in Western Australia through the Methamphetamine Action Plan.
This includes $9.3 million for an alcohol and other drug residential rehabilitation and treatment service in the South-West.
