The Cook Labor Government is investing more than $15.1 million in the delivery of sport and active recreation opportunities across Western Australia through the 2026-27 Industry Investment Program.
A total of 95 sport and recreation organisations will share $15,178,469 in funding, including 85 State sporting associations, five State active recreation organisations and five peak bodies.
The investment will help to strengthen participation pathways, improve governance and build organisational capability throughout the sector, ensuring Western Australians continue to have access to quality sport and recreation opportunities.
Selected organisations were assessed against performance, governance and organisational capability measures, including the sector's Women in Leadership target. Women currently hold 52 per cent of board positions across the funded sport and recreation organisations.
In addition to organisational funding, a further 23 State sporting associations will receive Regional Servicing Grants to strengthen participation opportunities and organisational capability in regional Western Australia.
As stated by Sport and Recreation Minister Rita Saffioti:
"Sport plays a vital role in keeping Western Australians healthy, connected and engaged in their communities.
"Our government is committed to supporting a vibrant sport and recreation sector, and this $15 million investment will help almost 100 organisations continue delivering opportunities that enrich people's lives across the State.
"From grassroots clubs to peak sporting and recreation bodies, these organisations are at the heart of creating active communities and providing pathways for all people to get involved in the activities they love."
