Yarra Ranges Council has secured a grant from the Victorian Government Tiny Towns Fund to make further improvements to facilities at the Coldstream Station Pump Track and surrounding station precinct.
Director of Built Environment and Infrastructure Anita Curnow said the Coldstream Pump Track is a popular destination for Yarra Ranges families and visitors alike.
"Since opening in November 2023, the pump track has received overwhelmingly positive feedback from users of all ages. We surveyed riders and families at the site shortly after it opened, and again in late 2025, to seek their feedback and suggestions for further improvements."
"The community told us it would be great if there were more shade options on hot days, as well as additional seating and BBQ facilities so they could make a day of their visit. With this grant funding, we're delighted to be able to deliver these outcomes for the community," Ms Curnow said.
Stage 2 of the Coldstream Pump Track has formed part of the broader vision for the site since the original project was developed. Council had already committed funding to improvements at the site, including improvements to the pump track and upgrades to the surrounding car parking.
"By combining the State Government grant with Council's contribution, we've been able to significantly expand the scope of works and deliver even greater benefits for the community," Ms Curnow said.
The additional investment will deliver a new shelter, barbecue facilities, seating, and other landscape improvements. It will create a more welcoming and functional space for the community and visitors, a convenient rest stop for Yarra Valley Trail users, and an attractive destination that encourages visitors to spend more time in Coldstream and support local businesses.
"This project was identified as a strong fit for the Tiny Towns Fund and closely aligned with the program's objectives. We're grateful to have secured this funding and look forward to seeing the next stage of the project come to life," Ms Curnow said.
Construction is expected to commence in August, subject to final project planning and contractor availability. Council looks forward to delivering these improvements and keeping the community informed as the project progresses.
