Further charges laid after officers injured in affray - Potts Point

Another man has been charged after five police officers were injured following a brawl outside a hotel in Potts Point at the weekend.

Police were called to a hotel on Bayswater Road about 11.20pm on Saturday 19 October 2019, responding to reports of a disturbance after a man was removed from the premises.

An affray broke out involving a large group of people, with officers from Kings Cross Police Area Command assisted by the Public Order and Riot Squad.

Five officers were taken to hospital where they were treated for various injuries including a fractured elbow, torn bicep, dislocated jaw, and a fractured nose.

Six people were arrested at the scene and taken to Kings Cross and Surry Hills Police Stations where two men and two women were charged with a string of offences including assault police causing grievous bodily harm.

As inquiries continue, detectives arrested a 31-year-old man at Kings Cross Police Station about 4pm today (Wednesday 23 October 2019).

He was charged with assault police (x3), hinder police (x3), affray, conceal a serious indictable offence, and carry on security without a licence.

He has been refused bail and will appear in Central Local Court tomorrow (Thursday 24 October 2019).
