Further man charged by Strike Force Guard over unauthorised protest

Strike force officers have charged a further person following investigations into unauthorised protest activity earlier this week.

The NSW Police Force re-established Strike Force Guard in May this year to prevent, investigate and disrupt unauthorised protests across the state.

Just after 8am on Monday (27 June 2022), protesters entered the roadway along King, Macquarie and Bridge streets in the CBD, causing significant disruption to vehicles and pedestrians.

A group of the protesters were arrested and charged and remain before the courts; while a number of people in the group dispersed and left the location.

Following further inquiries, strike force police arrested a 26-year-old man on Addison Road, Marrickville, about 10am today (Saturday 2 July 2022).

The man was taken to Surry Hills Police Station where he was charged with Enter etc Sydney Harbour Bridge etc disrupt etc vehicles etc; wilfully prevent free passage of person/vehicle/vessel, and pedestrian obstruct driver's/other pedestrian's path.

The Vaucluse man was given conditional bail to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on 11 August 2022.
