Geelong hosts global experts on design

Global experts will discuss the role of design in renewing, reimagining and regenerating cities at the annual UNESCO Cities of Design subnetwork meeting hosted by the City of Greater Geelong this month.

The panel of experts will showcase leading design projects from cities in Australia, Europe, Asia, North and South America and the Middle East.

The compelling three-day program from Tuesday 12 to Thursday 14 October will be livestreamed nightly from the Geelong Arts Centre, commencing at 9pm ADST. This is a free event and no registration is required.

The panel will focus on one theme each night – Reimagine (Tuesday), Renew (Wednesday) and Regenerate (Thursday).

The experts will discuss projects in Detroit (USA), Shanghai and Wuhan (China), Montreal (Canada), Muharraq (Bahrain), Kortrijk (Belgium), Kaunas (Lithuania), and Curitiba (Brazil).

Geelong is proud to be one of 40 UNESCO cities of design and to share information about quality design across the member network.

Leading design experts will share information about projects that focus on how design is being incorporated in cultural, creative and social initiatives, sustainability advancements and within the built form.

Four projects will be featured each evening, including a project on Geelong each night.
