Georges River Council announced Gerard Hayes has been elected as the new Mortdale Ward councillor after a countback election was held by the NSW Electoral Commission.
Mr Hayes will take an Oath or Affirmation of Office at the next Council meeting on Monday, 28 July 2025. He will replace former Councillor Ashvini Ambihaipahar as one of three Councillors in the Mortdale Ward due to Councillor Ambihaipahar's resignation after being elected as the Member for Barton at the Federal Election in May.
Georges River Council Mayor Elise Borg said, "We warmly welcome Gerard Hayes as our newest member of Council."
"We know Gerard will be a strong advocate for the Mortdale Ward community and his unique perspective and dedication to all of Georges River will be a valuable asset as we continue working together to deliver positive outcomes for our residents."
