Georges River Council Celebrates Success Of Bin Trim Networks Program

Georges River Council

Georges River Council is proud to announce the successful delivery of the NSW Environment Protection Authority's (EPA) Bin Trim Networks Program, in partnership with the Ethnic Communities' Council of NSW (ECCNSW) and five local Early Learning Centres.

This $258,000 project is an initiative of the NSW Environment Protection Authority under the NSW Government's Waste and Sustainable Materials Strategy and is funded from the waste levy.

Managed by the ECCNSW through the Bin Trim Networks Program, the CALD Communities Social Enterprises move towards a Circular Economy project provides tools, resources and guidance to culturally and linguistically diverse social enterprises to help them reduce waste and move towards more sustainable practices.

The Georges River Council Early Learning Centres involved in the program are:

  • Carss Park Narani Childcare, Carss Park.

  • Jack High Childcare Centre, Beverly Hills.

  • Oatley West Early Learning Centre, Oatley.

  • Penshurst Long Day Care, Penshurst.

  • South Hurstville Kindergarten, South Hurstville.

Georges River Council Mayor Elise Borg said, "Building on Council's Waste Management Strategy 2021–2040, the Bin Trim Networks Program helps children develop sustainable habits.

"The program introduced young children to the importance of reducing, reusing, and recycling, helping to shape positive behaviours in households and the wider community.

"These habits are especially important as we prepare the community for FOGO (Food Organics and Garden Organics), which allows residents to recycle food and garden waste into compost, reducing landfill and supporting a more sustainable future."

Council congratulates all partners involved in the program and acknowledges the vital role Early Learning Centres play in shaping the next generation of environmentally conscious residents.
