Get Ready for more wild weather

Acting Mayor Donna Gates has urged Gold Coasters to be prepared following last night's storms that swept across the city.

The Bureau of Meteorology has forecast the possibility of further thunderstorms this evening, possibly severe.

"Recent hot days have created conditions that may bring afternoon storms and hail for some parts of our city," Acting Mayor Gates said.

"Now is the time to prepare. Check your property for items that may become airborne if a storm does impact the coast."

She said that during a storm or heavy rain to avoid unnecessary travel and to keep an eye on the latest information from the Bureau of Meteorology.

"Where possible, stay off the roads and keep children away from stormwater run-off."
