Getting To Work For People Of Morphett

SA Gov

The Malinauskas Labor Government has claimed victory in the seat of Morphett, thanking the community for the trust placed in the Labor team and local candidate Toby Priest.

Counting over the weekend confirms that Morphett will be represented by Labor for the first time in 47 years.

The historic result follows a strong local campaign focused on engaging with residents and addressing community priorities.

The Labor Party has previously held the seat of Morphett only briefly between 1977 and 1979.

The result means Labor MPs will hold 34 seats in the 47 seat House of Assembly.

As put by Premier Peter Malinauskas

I want to sincerely thank the people of Morphett for placing their trust in my Government and in Toby Priest to represent them in the State Parliament.

We are grateful for this opportunity and will work every day to serve the people of Morphett and deliver on the trust that has been placed in us.

I congratulate Toby on an outstanding campaign. He has worked tirelessly to connect with local residents, listen carefully to their concerns, and put forward a positive vision for the future of Morphett.

As put by incoming Member for Morphett Toby Priest

I am deeply honoured to be elected to serve the people of Morphett.

It has been a privilege to meet so many local residents throughout this campaign and to hear directly about the issues that matter most to them.

I am grateful for the opportunity to serve and am committed to working hard every day to represent my community.
