Girl dies after being trampled by horse, NSW

A girl has died after being trampled by a horse in the Hawkesbury region.

About 5.30pm yesterday today, a 12-year-old girl was leading a horse on a property on Pitt Town Road, Pitt Town, when it is believed the horse became spooked and she was trampled by the animal, NSW Police say.

Emergency services attended and found the girl with serious head, chest and abdominal injuries.

She was treated by police and Ambulance Paramedics, and was being conveyed to Westmead Children’s Hospital by the Ambulance Rescue helicopter when she died about 6.45pm.

Police from Hawkesbury Local Area Command attended and are investigating the incident.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
