Accepted items
We can accept domestic quantities of the following:
Glass bottles including beer, wine and olive oil
Glass jars including sauce and condiment jars
Tips for dropping off glass
Empty and rinse items before dropping them off.
Glass bottles and jars should have their lids removed: plastic lids and caps go in the general waste bin and metal lids go in the recycling bin.
Labels don't need to be removed from glass bottles and jars.
Why separate glass?
When glass is placed in mixed recycling, it can break. And broken glass can contaminate other materials like paper, cardboard, and plastic, making them harder to recycle.
We're separating glass to improve the quality of our recycling, and to support a local market for glass to be recycled into high-quality new products.
Are the Communal Hubs still operating?
Yes, our communal glass and FOGO hubs continue to operate. On average, these hubs receive nearly nine tonnes of glass per month.
This new location offers an additional drop off point to make it easy for our visitors. The communal hub locations can be found on our communal hubs webpage.
