Glenora Road Works Underway

Guy Barnett,Liberal Member for Lyons

Work is underway to improve the safety of the Derwent Valley's Glenora road—a key thoroughfare for local and visitor traffic.

The road has experienced a major increase in traffic volume due to the increasing popularity of Mount Field National Park, as well as providing access for the region's primary producers.

Local Liberal Member for Lyons Guy Barnett MP and Derwent Valley Mayor Ben Shaw announced the commencement of works at Bushy Park last Wednesday.

$2.5 million has been invested towards the project as part of the Hodgman majority Liberal Government's $72 million Visitor Roads package, which aims to enhance Tasmania's reputation as a premium destination.

The Visitor Roads package is the single biggest investment in tourism roads in Tasmania and will help ensure the State's popular tourism roads meet the needs and expectations of visitors and locals.

Works are being delivered by Stabilised Pavements of Australia and will provide a smoother road surface and refined edges, as well as better drainage.

The benefits will be felt by the local community, as well as visitors to the Derwent Valley region.
