The Gold Coast will come together in a special vigil on Monday night to honour the victims of the Bondi attack and support our local Jewish community.
Mayor Tom Tate said the event – the City of Gold Coast Light and Unity Vigil – is a chance for us as a community to pause, reflect and show that even in the darkest times, compassion and unity shine brightest.
"Our hearts are broken for the families and friends who are grieving and for the entire Jewish community," Mayor Tate said.
"This vigil is our way of saying you are not alone and that we are still a nation that values safety, inclusion and respect.
"We have worked closely with Jewish leaders to create an appropriate and respectful vigil which will have representation from many faiths."
Mayor Tate said the event is free but ticketed.
