Quick thinking cops have taken another prolific shoplifter off the beat after discovering more than $7000 worth of stolen property inside his vehicle.
Earlier this week, Waitematā West Police executed a search warrant at a Massey address after making enquiries into a string of burglaries in Whenuapai, Kumeū and Westgate in recent weeks.
Waitematā West Area Prevention Manager, Acting Inspector Nick Salter, says officers arrested and charged a 29-year-old man.
"A search of the vehicle located a number of stolen items, most of which were tools.
"All items have been recovered and returned to their rightful owners, and we estimate they are collectively valued at more than $7000.
"This is an outstanding result and reflects some very good Police work by officers who were relentless in ensuring a prolific offender is held accountable for his actions."
The man will appear in Waitākere District Court on 6 October facing charges including burglary, theft from a motor vehicle and taking documents dishonestly.
