Goulburn River open following floods

The Goulburn River will reopen from midday today (Thursday, December 22).

An exclusion zone will remain for 100m either side of Chinaman's Bridge.

A structural assessment of Chinaman's Bridge has told us it is dangerous and will collapse.

Council cannot and will not compromise people's safety.

We urge all water users to please be safe on the water. There continues to be moving hazards following recent major flooding.

Kirwan's Bridge is safe for water users to travel underneath the bridge and we continue to wait for the results of the safety assessment before we can make a decision on reopening the bridge to traffic.

Water patrols will be occurring during the weekend.
