Government agrees with doctors' call to end health politics

Michael Ferguson,Minister for Health

The Government welcomes the AMA's statement today calling for more focus on health policy and less populist politics, to provide better care for Tasmanians in this time of significant increased demand.

We are focused on developing the solutions our health system needs, and will work with those who genuinely want to contribute to this in a constructive way.

The Tasmanian people are sick of the usual blame games, Parliamentary stunts and constant one-upmanship. They want solutions – not more politics or the annual Mediscare.

If Labor is willing to cease its politicking and instead be constructive, we will facilitate their participation in the Access Solutions Meeting.

We look forward to working with all stakeholders on real solutions, including the AMA.
