Ottawa, ON– This Veterans' Week, November 5 to 11, the Government of Canada encourages the public to take in key commemorative events in the Ottawa area to mark the 100th anniversary of Canada's Hundred Days and the Armistice, and remember those who served and sacrificed for our freedom.

Key events include:

· The Edge of Peace is a 14-minute multimedia commemorative exhibit that uses light, sound, shadow theatre, and narration. It begins this Sunday and is open daily from dusk until 10:30 p.m. in Confederation Park.

· The Royal Canadian Legions' (RCL) Virtual "Poppy Drop" and Virtual Wall of Honour on Parliament Hill features a daily digital light show every evening with 117,000 virtual poppies and the Virtual wall of Honour.

· The World Remembers projects the names of those killed in 1918 and subsequent years onto the Government Conference Centre, daily from sunset to sunrise.

· Victory 1918 – The Last 100 Days at the Canadian War Museum is a visual exhibition that that tells the powerful stories of Canadians.

· Canada's Hundred Days: The End of the First World War is an outdoor photo exhibit at the Château Laurier from the Vimy Foundation's First World War in Colour.

· The annual RCL Remembrance Day ceremony at the National War Memorial will be held from 10:20 a.m. until noon, on November 11.

· The RCL's Bells of Peace At sundown on November 11, the Peace Tower bells in Ottawa will ring, as will bells in communities across Canada to celebrate the end of the First World War.
