Government pledges tax cuts despite parliamentary delay

Australian Conservatives Release

The Morrison government insists the tax cuts it took to the election will be delivered despite not being able to legislate the cuts before the end of the financial year.

Conservative Party leader Cory Bernardi says he will support the Morrison government's tax cut package in full.

Because the tax cuts will be delivered as an end of financial year rebate - known as the Low and Middle Income Tax Offset, or LMITO - they can still be paid at the end of this financial year once legislated.

Under the tax cuts that were legislated last year, people earning up to $90,000 will receive a LMITO of up to $530 at the end of this financial year and at the end of each of the next three financial years.
