Govt Appoints Independent Reviewer for Disclosure Regime Changes

Australian Treasury

The Albanese Government has appointed Kevin Lewis as a part‑time independent reviewer of recent amendments to Australia's continuous disclosure laws under the Corporations Act 2001.

The review will consider whether the legislation introduced by the former government in 2021 is working in support of an efficient, effective and well‑informed market.

Dr Lewis was previously the Chief Compliance Officer at the ASX and has extensive knowledge and experience in corporate governance and the continuous disclosure framework.

Prior to his time at the ASX, he was a lawyer and practised across a broad spectrum of areas including financial services and corporate matters.

The continuous disclosure obligations in the Corporations Act require listed entities to disclose price‑sensitive information on a continuous basis.

The review will consult publicly and will be completed in early 2024.
