Graduation Day - Recruit Constable Squad 143

Northern Territory Police will welcome 28 new Constables from Recruit Squad 143 today.

The new constables will be taking up duties primarily in Alice Springs, Katherine, Tennant Creek and Avon Downs.

Commissioner Jamie Chalker APM said the new constables will contribute to the efforts in keeping the community safe during this pandemic.

"They will join the frontline today, which will greatly assist sworn police officers who are spread across the Territory right now, protecting NT communities from COVID-19.

"The demand on our services remains very high and these officers will be a welcome addition to our members already serving and protecting the community.

During their six-month course, Recruit Constable Squad 143 completed units in defensive tactics, driver-training, search and rescue and firearms. The course also included legislative training, cultural awareness and engagement and addressing domestic and family violence.

"I look forward to their graduation ceremony this afternoon. It's always a proud moment to be at the graduations and witness the recruits take the next step in their careers."

The graduation will be filmed and available on the NT Police, Fire and Emergency Services Facebook page next week.
