All roads lead to Eastwood on Saturday 17 October for the famous Granny Smith Festival, with another bumper crowd expected for a wonderful day of great food, thrilling rides and amazing entertainment.
The Festival is not only the City of Ryde's biggest event of the year, but also one of the largest annual street festivals to be held across Sydney.
Held in honour of Maria Ann 'Granny' Smith – the Eastwood local who in 1868 accidentally cultivated the first of the tangy green apples that bear her name – it's a day packed full of family fun.
City of Ryde Mayor Trenton Brown said the Granny Smith Festival was a fantastic representation of the City's vibrant community.
"We are one of Sydney's most diverse multicultural areas and on this day we all come together as one to celebrate the creation of an iconic apple that has gone on to become popular all over the world," he said.
"What truly sets the Granny Smith Festival apart is that strong community spirit, bringing together over 2,000 talented performers and more than 700 participants in the iconic street parade that begins the day.
"It's an unmissable day and I can't wait to join everyone in enjoying the sights and sounds of what is always an incredible celebration."
Festival favourites include the famous pie eating contest, amusement rides, six Festival stages, the Harvest Garden bar, and over 200 stalls to explore.
New attractions include the GSF Play zone in Eastwood Public school with a 'Playkour' obstacle course, a new mobile sensory area on West Parade, and an accessible event shuttle bus to help Festival goers get to and from the event.
The Finale Concert includes 2026 Australia Idol Winner Kesha Neve performing at 7.00pm, followed by a fireworks spectacular.
The Granny Smith Festival, which runs from 9.00am-8.30pm in the heart of Eastwood, is proudly supported by the NSW Government in partnership with Multicultural NSW.
Council would like to thank Platinum sponsor Community Bank Homebush and North Ryde, part of Bendigo Bank, as well as all other Festival sponsors, whose generous support and partnership have helped make this event possible.
