The Cook Labor Government is continuing to help build the leadership capability of Western Australians with disability and those working in the disability sector with a $230,000 grant to Leadership WA.

The grant will assist Leadership WA to deliver the LeadAbility Course until the end of 2026.

Since its inception, LeadAbility has been building the long-term leadership skills of people with disability and disability sector workers, with more than 272 Western Australians successfully graduating.

The seven-day entry-level course is conducted across three months, and includes dynamic activities focusing on understanding leadership, growing confidence, effective communication, teamwork, and community.

The Course is supported by the Department of Communities and aligns with the State Disability Strategy 2020-2030, which sets the foundation for building a more inclusive WA by empowering people with disability to participate meaningfully in all parts of society, including employment.

As stated by Disability Services Minister Hannah Beazley:

"The Cook Government is proud to support Leadership WA in its efforts to empower Western Australians living with disability and those working in the sector.

"LeadAbility gives people with disability and workers in the sector the opportunity to harness their talent, abilities and expertise on the path to becoming confident and effective leaders.

"This in turn supports a more inclusive community in which everyone can reach their potential.

"LeadAbility has so many great success stories, and I look forward to now seeing even more."
