Grant open for Boosting Female Founders Initiative - round 2

Grants between $25,000 and $480,000 for female founded start-ups are being provided to expand into domestic and global businesses.

The Boosting Female Founders Initiative (the Initiative) – Round 2 will help female entrepreneurs overcome the disadvantages they face in getting access to finance and support, to grow their start-ups, and seeks to boost the economy through increasing the diversity of start-up founders.

Round 2 offers $11.6 million in grant funding, and is a significant increase on round 1's $6 million available. The total initiative provides $52.2 million over five years from 2020-21 to 2024-25.

Eligible activities include (but are not limited to): product development and marketing; launching and scaling products; expansion to other markets; developing software and apps; purchase of equipment to enable growth; access to independent management (for example, C-suite and advisory boards); and access to relevant professional development.

AusBiotech responded to the Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources' Female Founders consultation in October 2019. Read the submission here.

The Female Founders Initiative – Round 2 grant applications close at 5.00 pm (AEST) on 22 April 2021.

The grant opportunity will be delivered through a two-stage competitive selection process due to the expected high demand for this programme.
