Grant Writing Workshops

If you have ever considered applying for a Council grant but weren't sure how to go about doing it, some upcoming workshops may be the answer.

Rockhampton Regional Council is holding grant writing workshops in late March for its Community Assistance Program (CAP) and Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF).

Assistant Communities and Heritage Portfolio Chair Cr Cherie Rutherford said that writing a grant can be a time consuming and sometimes difficult process.

"These workshops will help demystify the process," she said.

The three-hour workshops will include information specific to CAP and RADF, as well as general grant writing helpful hints.

"Both CAP and RADF involve the distribution of public money so the applications and follow up acquittal processes do need to be thorough, but these workshops will help potential applicants steer their way through, hopefully, to a successful grant application," she said.

CAP provides support to community organisations and groups whose activities provide community, social and environmental benefits to the Rockhampton Region. There are a number of programs within CAP.

RADF is a partnership between state and local governments which invests in quality arts and cultural experiences based on locally determined priorities.

"The workshops will be held in small groups of up to 20 people so there will be plenty of opportunity for discussion and questions," she said.

The workshops will be held at 62 Victoria Parade (the old Art Gallery building) on:

  • Wednesday 29 March, 2023 5pm to 8pm
  • Thursday 20 March, 2023 5pm to 8pm
  • Saturday 1 April, 2023 10am to 1pm

(Workshops are self contained within one session).

The workshops will be conducted by Prue Saxby, Managing Director of Indigo Gold, who will pass on the wisdom she has gained from many years of grant writing.
