  • Cook Labor Government is committed to improving workplace mental health and protecting Western Australian workers

The Cook Labor Government is committed to protecting workers from physical and psychological harm and is promoting safe work practice with a grant program.

The Mentally Healthy Workplaces Grant Program supports workplace initiatives that strengthen an understanding of psychosocial hazards and work health and safety obligations, with a focus on practical application in real workplace settings.

This is the second round of funding, with $1 million per year over the next four years to be made available in grants of up to $200,000 to eligible applicants.

The first stage aims to improve awareness and understanding of psychosocial hazards and identify risks, while the second stage provides strategies and tools to address those risks.

The grants will support new and innovative initiatives designed so the intended audience can readily understand and apply them in individual workplaces.

Grant applications are now open, and further information and application details are available through the Department of Local Government, Industry Regulation and Safety at Workplace mental health grant programs and Apply for Mentally Healthy Workplaces Grant Program .

As stated by Industrial Relations Minister Simone McGurk:

"This program seeks to support new and innovative initiatives that help workplaces understand and meet psychosocial work health and safety duties.

"This is the second round of the program and reflects the State Government's ongoing priority of addressing psychosocial hazards in Western Australian workplaces, particularly in industries where workers experience higher levels of psychosocial risk.

"The Cook Labor Government is committed to improving worker safety - both physical and psychological - and this program is further evidence of that commitment."
