Local historians and community groups across Victoria can now apply for a share in $350,000 to preserve, record and share Victoria's rich history.
Minister for Government Services Danny Pearson today announced the Local History Grants Program is now accepting applications of up to $15,000 per project, managed by Public Record Office Victoria.
The last round of the Local History Grants Program saw 53 community groups across Victoria share local history projects which included:
- Care Leavers Australasia for their exhibition of care leavers' stories using public records of institutions in Geelong
- Chinese Australian Family Historians of Victoria for their online database to make Chinese Australian travel records publicly available
- Deaf Children Australia for their work to catalogue their 157-year history.
Other projects showed the importance of making local history accessible to Victorians online including virtual tours, walking apps, e-books, online digitisation projects and oral histories.
Community groups can apply for funding from today via prov.vic.gov.au.
Applications close at midnight on Tuesday 9 March 2021.
