Grants Awarded to Tasmanian Heritage Properties

Thirty-seven recipients have successfully received funding to deliver a range of restoration, conservation and activation projects under the final round of the Built Heritage Grants Scheme.
The Built Heritage Grants Scheme is part of the Tasmanian Government's $4.5 million investment over three years (2023-2026) to support the State's historic heritage sector and revitalise unique heritage properties.
Minister for the Arts and Heritage, Madeleine Ogilvie, congratulated the recipients whose projects will improve public access of heritage properties and enhance Tasmania's reputation for offering world class heritage experiences.
"The Tasmanian Government is delivering for Tasmanians by supporting the conservation, and importantly, the activation of our built heritage," Minister Ogilvie said.
"Congratulations to all the successful project recipients, whose actions are preserving our cultural treasures.
"Some of these projects include funding for conservation and maintenance works for buildings such as the Queen Mary Club for the completion of work to reduce rising damp on the 1844 facade.
"In the North West $197,445 will go towards the urgent maintenance of the exterior of St Paul's Anglican Church in Stanley in preparation for Stanley's Bicentenary celebrations later this year.
"The Aboriginal Land Council of Tasmania will receive $150,000 towards a second stage of conservation and restoration works at Wybalenna to improve community access and support cultural programs.
"And the Longford Academy will receive $49,900 to deliver a program to enhance the building conservation skills of Tasmanian tradespeople, builders and architects with course attendees to complete the training at the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Woolmers Estate.
"We have invested $1.4 million to deliver these projects which ensures the State's heritage places are protected and maintained for the benefit of all Tasmanians and also ensures investment in the development of conservation skills for tradespersons, builders and architects, which ensures improved quality of heritage works."
