- Incorporated not-for-profit community organisations and local governments invited to apply
- International Volunteer Day celebrated worldwide on 5 December to recognise and thank volunteers
Community organisations and local governments are invited to apply for grant funding to support local events and activities to celebrate International Volunteer Day.
International Volunteer Day is held annually on 5 December and is an opportunity to recognise, thank and celebrate the generous contributions and incredible impact of volunteers.
Grants of up to $1,000 are available to support initiatives that celebrate Western Australian volunteers such as awards, ceremonies, workshops, seminars, morning or afternoon teas and excursions.
In 2024, the Cook Government delivered $70,000 across 71 organisations throughout WA to assist groups to give their volunteers the thanks they deserved.
Events included an inclusive picnic in the paddock by Riding for the Disabled Association of Western Australian, an afternoon boat cruise by the Shire of Wyndham-East Kimberley and a garden party by the City of Vincent.
Events and activities can be held the week surrounding International Volunteer Day, from Monday 1 December to Sunday 7 December 2025.
Applications for the International Volunteer Day Grants program are open until 3pm on Friday 6 June 2025.

As stated by Volunteering Minister Hannah Beazley:
"Volunteers enrich and strengthen our communities across Western Australia in so many ways, from aiding economic growth and sustainability, to fostering belonging and improving mental health outcomes.
"The International Volunteer Day Grants Program is just one of the ways our Cook Government is helping to celebrate and thank the more than 1.5 million WA volunteers who generously donate their time.
"As the new Minister for Volunteering, I can't wait to join in on the International Volunteer Day celebrations and show my support for the volunteers who make our communities better places to live, work and play."
