Bass Coast Shire Council is set to begin works on a new section of rock seawall in Grantville, strengthening protection for the viewing platform, Pier Road car park, toilet block, and surrounding coastal areas. The $240,000 project, delivered by Landshape Earthmoving & Excavations, is scheduled to start in mid-October 2025 and is expected to take around four weeks, weather and tides permitting.
The project involves removing concrete waste from the beach, repairing sections of the existing seawall and viewing platform, and constructing approximately 60 metres of new granite rock wall. These upgrades will help safeguard public land, community assets, and coastal vegetation from wave erosion, ensuring Grantville's foreshore remains safe and accessible for everyone.
During construction, the Pier Road gravel car park will be closed for safety, and there will be limited access to the nearby toilet block. Traffic and pedestrian measures will be in place, and alternative public toilets are available at the back of the Transaction Centre. Residents will also receive a notice of works letterbox drop prior to construction starting.
Council thanks the community for their patience during the works and encourages anyone with questions to contact the Council before or during the project.
