A joint tourism initiative across three neighbouring councils wrapped up production this week, showcasing the best of the Murray region to a national audience. Film crews from the popular travel program Great Aussie Road Trips were on location on Tuesday and Wednesday, capturing iconic sights, local hospitality and hidden gems across Federation Council, Moira Shire and Berrigan Shire.

The upcoming feature episode, scheduled to air nationally in 2027, highlights the region's diverse offerings - from riverfront landscapes and farm-gate produce to historic townships and unique visitor experiences.

The successful production was made possible through a collaborative effort between the three local government areas, working together to position the cross-border region as a premier road-trip destination for Australian travellers.

Federation Council Mayor, Cr Cheryl Cook praised the local business community and tourism operators for rolling out the red carpet during production.

"Filming across our region went absolutely amazing and we could not be prouder of how our local community shone on camera," said Mayor Cook.

"I would like to extend a massive thank you to all of our incredible local operators who opened their doors, shared their stories and featured the outstanding experiences and tourism products that make our region so special. By partnering with our neighbours in Moira and Berrigan shires, we are able to highlight the seamless destination appeal of our area. We can't wait to see our beautiful region broadcast into living rooms across Australia when the show airs in 2027."

The joint initiative highlights the growing momentum behind regional cross-border collaboration, leveraging collective tourism strengths along the Murray River corridor.
