Greater Flexibility and Support for Residents to Manage Waste

Wyndham City is trialling three key changes to its waste disposal services to help residents keep Wyndham clean and safe. Increased flexibility is being introduced to help residents work with Council officers to keep their properties free of waste.

Currently, households in Wyndham that pay the waste charge with their annual rates can book three hard and green waste collections for their property. These collections are for large volumes of waste that can't be disposed of in Wyndham's weekly kerbside collection service.

Residents can now exchange their hard and green waste vouchers for Waste Disposal Vouchers, which they may use to drop off waste at the Refuse Disposal Facility (RDF) in Werribee. Homeowners will still have access to the Waste Disposal Voucher they receive on their rates notice.

A second change will provide greater flexibility and support to residents disposing of waste via booked collections. Renters and homeowners can now book additional hard or green waste collections when they have already used their three service allocations for the year. The charge per additional service is $100 and is available after a conversation with a Council officer who can help advise residents producing large volumes of waste.

A third change provides access to residents who do not pay the waste charge, like people living in multi-unit dwellings. These people may also book a hard or green waste collection for a fee of $100. The booked hard and green waste collection service continues to be an easy to use, convenient and timely service, with over 60 per cent of items materials being recycled.

Wyndham City Mayor Cr Susan McIntyre said: "These three changes are about making it easier and more accessible for people to do the right thing and help keep Wyndham clean."

"We understand different residents' demand for waste services can vary dramatically, and by providing greater flexibility, we can better meet community needs."

"If you are struggling to dispose of your waste, call our Council officers. We want to work with you to dispose of waste efficiently to keep our City clean."

To access the above waste services, residents should call Wyndham City's Customer Service Centre on 1300 023 411. Residents requesting a Waste Disposal Voucher to the RDF will be asked to provide proof of residency.
