Green Living in Casey Community Champions

Are you a gardening guru, working hard to reduce your waste, reminding your family and friends to recycle right, or teaching your neighbours to compost?

Local Casey resident Claire Heffernan lives by these attributes and is our first Green Living in Casey Champion!

Claire volunteers with the local Boomerang Bags group who make reusable cloth shopping bags, while she and her family compost their food and garden scraps, and also opts for reusable plastic containers for leftovers.

Claire's top three green living tips:

  • Take your own shopping bags, produce bags and esky when shopping.
  • Use cloth nappies - they are easy to use and the washing machine does all the work!
  • Start composting - keep a container in your kitchen for scraps and empty it into an outdoor compost bin once it's full.
