Greens Hail NDA Ban in Harassment Cases As Win

Australian Greens

The Victorian Greens have welcomed reports Labor intends to introduce a bill this week banning the use of NDAs in workplace sexual harassment cases, calling it a win for workers.

The Greens say it is a long overdue reform that will help prevent victim-survivors from being silenced, and address the harmful power imbalance between employers and employees.

As stated by Victorian Greens workers' rights spokesperson, Aiv Puglielli MLC:

"This is a win for workers.

"Workers who experience sexual harassment should not be silenced. Our laws should empower victim-survivors so they can speak their truth and receive justice.

"For too long bosses and corporations have been able to use their power to silence workers when they've been victims of sexual harassment.

"After years of advocacy by victim-survivors and unions, hopefully this long overdue reform to ban NDAs will help improve workers' pathway towards justice and healing."
