Detectives from the Tablelands Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) have charged a 42-year-old man following an assault in Mareeba in late June this year.
It will be alleged around 12.45pm on 26 June, a 78-year-old Mareeba man was allegedly assaulted by another man at a carpark on Atherton Street.
The 78-year-old sustained lacerations to the face and lower body.
The offender allegedly fled the scene on foot prior to police arrival.
Following police investigations, a 42-year-old Mareeba man was arrested and charged on Thursday, 7 August.
He has been charged with one count of grievous bodily harm and is due to appear before the Mareeba Magistrates Court on Wednesday, 20 August.
