Grievous bodily harm charges at Palm Island, QLD

Detectives investigating an alleged assault at Palm Island last Sunday have charged two men with grievous bodily harm, Queensland Police say.

Around 8.20pm, a number of people were socialising at a Jacob Street residence when a 20-year-old Palm Island man was allegedly assaulted by a group of men.

The man received serious injuries and was transported to a Townsville hospital for treatment.

A 26-year-old man and a 19-year-old man both from Palm Island have each been charged with one count of grievous bodily harm.

The 26-year-old man appeared in Townsville Magistrate Court today.

The 19-year-old man will appear in Townsville Magistrate Court on March 22.

Investigations are continuing.
