Griffith University has won its maiden title in the AON Women’s Rugby Uni 7s series with a convincing 28-7 win over University of Queensland in Sunday’s gold medal game in Brisbane.
Griffith finished on top of their pool in the round games after defeating University of Melbourne (41-0), University of New England (36-5), University of Queensland (10-7) on day one and finishing level with University of Tasmania (17-17) in their final pool game on day two.
In the semi-final, Griffith convincingly defeated Macquarie University (22-0) before repeating their pool victory over University of Queensland to take out round three of the AON Series.
Griffith sits in a three-way tie at the top of the competition ladder alongside Macquarie University and University of Queensland, heading into the final two rounds of the series.
