Grocery store owner charged with indecent assault at Wollongong

The owner of a grocery store has been charged following reports of indecent assault and sexual touching in the Wollongong area.

Police allege the offences occurred between 2016 and 2019 at a grocery store on Crown Street, Wollongong.

In September 2016, a 40-year-old woman entered the grocery store and was allegedly grabbed by the owner, who attempted to kiss her and touched her inappropriately.

In April 2018, a 17-year-old girl entered the store and was allegedly approached by the same man before being touched inappropriately.

Earlier this month (October 2019) a 24-year-old woman entered the store and was approached by the man, who allegedly grabbed the woman and held her while attempting to kiss her.

The three incidents were reported to police in October 2019, following a post on social media about the alleged offences.

Following an investigation by officers attached to Wollongong Police District, a 68-year-old man was arrested at a grocery store on Crown Street Wollongong last Friday (25 October 2019).

The man was taken to Wollongong Police Station where he was later charged with two counts of indecent assault and sexually touch another person without consent.

The man was granted conditional bail and is due to face Wollongong Local Court on 26 November 2019.
