Grounds for arrest after Brunswick West cafe burglaries

Detectives from Moreland Crime Investigation Unit are investigating after a burglar stole cash from five different cafes in the Brunswick area over the past three months.

In each incident, the burglar forces entry to the premises between midnight and 3.30am and steals cash before fleeing on foot.

The man is wearing the same clothes with his face covered during each of the burglaries - black tracksuit pants with white stripes down the sides of each leg, a grey and navy hooded jacket, a black hat and is carrying a black backpack.

The incidents occurred on;

• 9 September about 3.15am in Union Street, Brunswick,

• 14 November about 2.30am in Victoria Street, Brunswick,

• 16 November about 12am in Albert Street, Brunswick,

• 18 November about 12.45am in Albion Street, Brunswick West, and

• 22 November about 12.40am in Pearson Street, Brunswick West.

Investigators have released CCTV and images from the 16 November incident of a man they wish to speak to.
