Gunnedah Hospital Redevelopment Open Day Announced

The community is being invited to take a first look inside the $53 million Gunnedah Hospital Redevelopment, with construction of the new acute services building on track for completion by the end of the year.

The Gunnedah Hospital Redevelopment will deliver enhanced health care facilities to support the current and future health care needs of the local community.

Minister for Regional Health Ryan Park toured the new hospital building, which features an expanded emergency department, modern birthing, maternity and inpatient unit and dedicated ambulance entry and bays.

New artworks, along with landscaped gardens and courtyard areas, are also featured in key spaces throughout the new health facility, helping to create welcoming and uplifting public health spaces for patients, staff and visitors.

Final preparations and finishing touches are underway to ensure the new acute services building and staff are ready to welcome patients to their newly redeveloped local hospital. This includes installing furniture, fixtures, and equipment, completing clinical cleaning, stocking departments with medical supplies and conducting staff training and orientation.

Ahead of its official opening, community members are being invited to tour the Gunnedah Hospital Redevelopment during an Open Day on Wednesday, 26 November 2025 from 3.00pm to 7.00pm.

The community Open Day will offer guided tours of the new hospital building providing a look inside the modern and enhanced health facilities.

The Gunnedah Hospital will continue to operate while final works are completed and access to health services will remain the same. The community will continue to be updated as work progresses in finalising the redevelopment.

The project has been delivered by Health Infrastructure in partnership with Hunter New England Local Health District, with construction works delivered by Richard Crookes Constructions.
